There were two varga thorns snagged on his shirt.

With shaky fingers, he tugged one of them out. There was a twinge of pain and at that moment his breath left him. He yanked out the second thorn and briskly rolled up his sleeve.

He counted one, two – three puncture wounds – already upraised and red and warm to the touch. There were more shed varga thorns on the ground.

Alright, so this might be bad. This might be very, very bad.
